Tuesday Tutorial: Customized Shirt
I have seen a lot of tutorials about using a design and bleach but they all involved to many complicated steps that required precise cutting - not for me! With football season coming up I wanted to make my little man a personalized shirt for the season and when I found a 99 cent shirt in just the right color it was meant to be! I had Lynnette cut me a football helmet and wanted to test if you could use vinyl as an easy way to do this technique...
I wanted to keep it in a specific area rather than let it go all over the shirt. I put cardboard in the middle so it wouldn't bleed to the other side and then folded the shirt back and taped it, except where I wanted the bleach to go.
I laid a couple of towels under it so if there was any over spray it wouldn't hurt my table. I used a cheap little spray bottle and filled it with bleach and then sprayed away.
I wanted it to be really noticeable so I sprayed a lot but you could do it lighter for a less dramatic effect. When I was done spraying there were pooled drops of bleach on the vinyl. I didn't want it to bleed off so I took a rag and laid it over to absorb all the extra bleach.
Then I pulled the cardboard out and quickly rinsed the shirt out in the bathtub to make sure that it could not bleed anywhere else and then washed it.
I had an iron on of our favorite team that I wanted to put on the front. Too bad that didn't work as well. I'm thinking I may use vinyl or sticker logo to spray the front to match the back!
It worked!
It was so easy and I love the end result.

To do it all I did was lay out my vinyl and peal off the paper.

Kaden's 2nd Birthday - Vintage Car Party

My sons birthday party was themed cars.
Vintage/cartoon cars, that is.

I cut out vinyl for our blank kitchen wall, hung our birthday banner and embellished with some extra ribbon. Picked up the balloons from the party store, made some pom poms and the birthday wall was finally done!

I had a lot of fun making all of the labels and cupcake toppers, and picking out all of the candy!
I got some of my clipart for the invitation, cupcake toppers etc from a great shop -
Tracy Ann Printables

These adorable paper straws I found just a few days before the party and the girl was so nice to get them in the mail ASAP so that I would get them in time, and just in time, they arrived about 4 hours before the party started.
Check out here straws here:
Taylor and Grace Productions

The adorable pillow boxes that I used as the party favor 'bags' are from:
Dun Gees Num Nums

We picked up some tires from our local Les Schwabb for the weekend, the kids had fun with the bean bag toss into the tires.
And played Pin the Wheel on the Car on our birthday wall
&
Ate lots of yummy food
I added vinyl to the bevarage buckets, and the 'buns' bowl :)And there were lot of goodies too!
The marshmallows I poked with toothpicks that had racing flags on the end.

We lined the outside tables with race car table covers.

Tuesday Tutorial - Distressed Board with Vinyl Owl Decal

This distressed board is so easy to make - and quick too.
First start with your board - if it needs to be sanded you will want to lightly sand it with a sanding block.
Spray your board with your base color (the color you want the least to show)
I started by spraying my board with a primer - white.
Then I used Dove soap in areas that I wanted the white to show through.
And if your two year old wants to help, this is something he likely can not mess up :)
Then paint your board with your next color.
I chose an oil rubbed bronze color.
Then sand your board so your base color shows through.
I used a light layer of soap, you can get a really chunky distressed look if you use a lot of soap, I will show you this method later.
Then again with your soap go over the areas of the base and second color, where you want it to show through on your main color.
Finally paint your third and final coat - I chose carnation pink.
And sand this one more time.
Before applying vinyl you may want to let board dry for about 24hrs.
That way you can peel off the vinyl and put on a new piece when you want to change things up a bit, but without ruining your board :)

Lastly apply the vinyl!
And your done :)

Saturday Spotlight - Kaden
Today's Saturday Spotlight is my little man Kaden.
Her turned 2 yesterday and we had his birthday party today.

It was a car themed birthday party - of course!
I will post pictures once I get them uploaded - the party (and the planning) was a lot of fun.
But as all fun things - I am glad it had an end :)

Customer Photo - Swirl Branch
I have had a lot of customers order this vinyl decal to match the Love Bird baby bedding by Bananfish.
This customer ordered it in an XLarge size - and it is Awesome (and of course cute too)!
I love the dramatic size! She ordered the branch at almost 8 feet long.
And from this decal I have designed two more swirl decals:
Swirl Tree with Chirping Birds

and
Swirl Tree with Owls, Birds, Flower and Leaves
