Murphys Caifornia
John and Daniel Murphy came to Sutters Fort in 1844. When gold was discovered a few years later, they began mining for gold. They formed a camp called Murphys Camp, which is known today as Murphys, California. Almost $20 million of gold was found in and around Murphys.
The Picture above of Murphys Hotel is one of the oldest continually operating Hotels in California. Some its more notable guests are U.S. Grant, Mark Twain and Black Bart.
Murphys is known as the Queen of the Sierra and the playgound of the Bay Area. With its many vineyards and wine tasting rooms in historic downtown Murphys.
