Sigwarth Glass

This beautiful glass is the creation of Douglas and Renee Sigwarth. Their studio is near their home just east of St. Paul, MN. The process begins with clear glass that is heated to a molten state of 2100 degrees; it's then blown and shaped on a 5' hollow stainless steel blowpipe. Next layers of colored glass are applied in various forms like the one pictured above (red and blue glass). The piece is next transfered to an annealing oven where it slowly cools from a temperture of 950 degrees. See all their designs at sigwarthglass.com

The Wineries of Murphys, Cailfornia

There are 25 tasting rooms in and around Murphys. Brice Stationer Winery (pictured to the left) is located up Hiway 4 going towards Arnold. Frog's Tooth tasting room is located among the other 16 tasting rooms in downtown Murphys. Ironstone is by far the biggest and most impressive of the wineries. It's located about a mile outside of Murphys, it has a museum in which the Kautz specimen is housed. It's the largest specimen of crystalline gold in the world, weighing in at 44 pounds (pictured above). Ironstone has a beautiful tastingroom with a 1800's look and feel. It also has an amphiteatre which hosts such artists at The Moody Blues, Alan Jackson, and Jason Mras. Check out all their events at www.ironstonevineyards.com

Vintage Purses

I was looking for a good website for vintage purses, when I found these darling purses on modbag.com This store is owned by Martha Torno and Tom Clark. For almost 20 years they have specialized in quality mid-twentieth century home furninshings, which are also wonderful. You can find those at moderntimeschicago.com

The price range for the purses is around $200-$500. But considering their uniqueness and perfect condition, I don't think you can go wrong. Check them out!

Murphys Caifornia

John and Daniel Murphy came to Sutters Fort in 1844. When gold was discovered a few years later, they began mining for gold. They formed a camp called Murphys Camp, which is known today as Murphys, California. Almost $20 million of gold was found in and around Murphys.

The Picture above of Murphys Hotel is one of the oldest continually operating Hotels in California. Some its more notable guests are U.S. Grant, Mark Twain and Black Bart.

Murphys is known as the Queen of the Sierra and the playgound of the Bay Area. With its many vineyards and wine tasting rooms in historic downtown Murphys.

Blackberry Cobbler

We just moved back to California. Now I know this state has it problems, i.e. it's bankrupt, the traffic is horrific, and the unemplyment rate is high. But we just moved to the cutest little town called Murphys. It's an old gold mining town that has never lost it original look. Truly it's charming. In the upcoming weeks, I'll take you to some of its darling boutiques, wineries, and restaraunts. But today I have to tell you about these beautiful blackberries in our backyard. What a wonderful surprise these were! The first day we moved in, my husband came into the kitchen with a bowl full of berries. Too tired to make pie, I found an old cobbler recipe in my recipe file. WOW!! it is so good I have to share it with you. You may be wondering why the picture is of red berries, that's because I've made so many cobblers that all the ripe berries are gone. Now all we can do is wait for these to turn ripe, and I guarantee my husband will be out there again picking a bowl full.

Blackberry Cobbler
1c sugar 1t baking powder
3 tablespoons flour 1/4 c shortening
1 c water 1/2 c milk
3 to 4 c blackberries dash of salt
1 c flour
Mix the sugar, 3 T of four and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Let boil for one minute. Add the berries and gently mix. Pour this into a 9x9 pan. Dot with a few teaspoons of butter and sprinkle a little cinnamon over the top. Now mix the flour, salt and the baking powder. Cut in the shortening, then add the milk and mix. Spoon this over the berries. Bake at 400 for 25 minutes. Serve with ice cream if you want. Enjoy.

Sunny Weather

It started to warm up here in our home town for a couple of days, but now it is windy and cold again. But we are moving next week to warmer weather! My husband got a job were it is warm all year round, can't wait!

I already ordered kiddie pools and sand tables. I didn't realize there was so much selection out there.

My oldest is 2 1/2 so this is the first summer that I feel like he can play with sand, etc without eating everything first.

AMC - Amercian Motors Company

So if you are my generation, you probably are not too familiar with AMC (the car company) since they are not around anymore.

But in my household growing up, we were surrounded by them. My dad collected the little matchbox cars, the real cars, he even bought out an old car company in the 90s and so we had signs, and everything else an old AMC dealership would have had.

Many Saturdays my dad would spend fixing up these cars. And we all wondered why.

Who could love such weirdness.

Well my dad just sold his last car, and promised my mom he wouldn't buy any more ever again. So with his birthday coming up, I found him this sketch of a gremlin and I thought it would be perfect.

This is from Uncommon
They have some cool pieces.

Not a Scrapbooker

Smart Lil Cookie

So I have never had the talents to create a beautiful scrapbook. My pages never seem to look better than anything a 5 year old could do. So I have a lot of scrapbook supplies that gather dust.

I have most recently discovered premade albums. I purchased some off of etsy, and I love them. These people are really talented.

Pink Owl Paperie

So I have decided from here on out I will let other people make them and then I can just insert my picture. Plus this is hours of work I no longer have to do, and the product looks great!

Cayerful Creations

I am excited to finish up my pre-made albums!
Check out these shops, they have great stuff!
