Tuesday Tutorial - Embellishing a Hutch

Today's Tutorial is to give you inspiration for dressing up a piece of furniture with vinyl.

I have chosen a hutch/armoire as my furniture of choice for the day. - Probably because I have been looking for the perfect hutch at the perfect price for months now :) I have decided it doesn't exist.

Add a dainty embellishment to a plain front:

Or a simple touch to the outside glass:

Make a bold statement:

Or add some cuteness to the inside:

The House that Janey Built - New Furniture

So I went to a local sale - Fancy Farmgirls:

What a cute name! These ladies are so fun and create such beautiful furniture.
I loved the sale!

Here are some of my furniture finds:
First this obnoxiously bright blue chest that for some reason I couldn't resist:

I didn't know where to put it - first it started in the boys' bedroom, then I moved it to the play room, and now it has ended up in my living room. With my big empty wall space that I haven't decided what to do with yet!

Then this yellow chair that I adore:

I have been waiting for the perfect chair for this desk, and I found it!

I found so many pieces for my daughter's room that I only have one vinyl decal to apply, one deco frame to make and a childrens table to find and paint and then I am done!
I do want to make the shabby kitchen for her room still, but it will at least look completed for now :)

These are the chairs that I need to find a table for:

And then there is the gorgeous Aqua hutch for all of her quilts and sheets:

And a mirror that my mother found and I fell in love with in about 2 seconds:

Once I get all the finishing touches of her bedroom finished I will post the entire room.
I am still waiting on a custom made quilt to come in the mail - hopefully this week :)

Customer Photo - Blowing Dandelions

I haven't received a customer photo for this decal before.

We cut it a little bit shorter than our standard size so the dandelions fit under her picture frame and light switch. I love her paint color and how striking the white is against it.

Tuesday Tutorial - Subway Art - Recap

If you saw our subway art tutorial last week - you saw that I had used makeshift pictures - well I finally found where I had saved the pictures of the wall art - so here are the pictures - if you want to check out the more detailed tutorial you can see it here.

paint

apply vinyl

paint second color
remove vinyl
and your done!

The House that Janey Built - New Pillows and Quilt

I know I said I was starting with my daughters' room but while I am waiting for her fabric to come in the mail, I decided to sew a blanket and some pillows for my boys bed.
My two year old just grew out of his crib so we moved in a queen bed for our 2 and 3 year olds to share, they love it!

Here's the blanket that has caused me some frustrations, but I am getting close to finishing it.

I love the way the pillows turned out.

This one is my favorite pillow - My husband thinks it's too girly, but I love it.

Did you notice the blank canvases above their bed. I have only painted one so far. I have that project coming up soon, and if it turns out like I have it planned it my head, I am way excited to get it finished.

As for their headboard, the idea that I had planned, I priced out, and calculated the time it would take for me to complete and decided I should keep brainstorming.

Tuesday Tutorial - Subway Art - Easy and Fast

Subway Stencil Art - The super easy way!!!
I made a 'subway art' piece of artwork with vinyl for my entry.

You can make one for your kids rooms, bedroom, with any sayings/wording that you like.
Here is a link to another vinyl subway art project that we did:
Vinyl Subway Art - Love Style

I lost the pictures of 'how to make' the above subway art.
So I am using another piece of wood and vinyl for the how to steps.

I grabbed a random piece of wood from my basement:

& A scrap piece of vinyl.

How to make subway art:
1. Apply your vinyl to your board.

3. Paint the board and over your piece of vinyl.

4. Then remove your vinyl.

and then hang your new piece of artwork!
